Step-by-step instructions for cutting and laying the gym flooring:

1. Safety first: Put on suitable work gloves to avoid cuts.
2. Choosing the right tool: a sharp carpet or utility knife and a guide rail.
3. The subfloor should be flat and level. In addition, you should use e.g. cardboard boxes to protect the floor.
4. Measure precisely and mark the area to be cut with chalk or lightly score it with the knife.
5. Place the guide rail and pull the knife firmly through the mat without lifting it. The cut should be made in one motion and the pressure applied should be even. Repeat this process as many times as needed until the mat is completely severed. Spread the mat apart piece by piece as you cut to reduce friction. If necessary, moisten the knife a little with soapy water to help it glide better. Note, however, that this also increases the risk of slipping.
6. Any gaps between the mats can simply be covered with black tape to prevent dust and dirt from getting in.
