1. What types of dumbbells are there?

We make dumbbells for every kind of training:

Fixed dumbbells: Hexagon, polyurethane, and Round Dumbbells PRO

Adjustable dumbbells: the Quad (45 lb or 80 lb) and the L1 Olympia, a loadable handle with 50 mm sleeves that takes standard weight plates.

2. How do the fixed dumbbells differ?

Hexagon dumbbells: Six-sided heads, PVC coated. They won’t roll, they protect the floor, and they keep the training area safer.

Polyurethane Round Dumbbells: Steel core with a PU coating. Odorless, scratch-resistant, and durable — built for regular use in the garage gym or commercial gym.

Round Dumbbells PRO: Steel core as well, but made with the more involved CPU process. That makes them tougher, longer-lasting, and gives them a premium finish — the right choice for commercial gyms and heavy use.

Hexagon PRO: Also CPU-made, the top tier of our hex dumbbells. Maximum durability and finish quality, built for full-time commercial use.

3. What are adjustable dumbbells?

Adjustable dumbbells let you set the weight yourself by adding or removing plates on a handle. They cost less and take up far less room than a full set of fixed dumbbells. The plates lock on with knurled screw collars or dumbbell collars.

4. What dumbbell weights do I need as a beginner?

That depends on where your strength is now. For isolation work like curls or lateral raises, 5 to 20 lb is usually plenty. For compound lifts like lunges or dumbbell bench press, 20 to 55 lb is a good starting range. A 5 to 55 lb set covers most beginners and gives you plenty of room to build a program.

5. Are adjustable dumbbells good for beginners?

Yes. You get a whole range of weights in one set, so you don’t have to buy a stack of fixed dumbbells up front. The L1 Olympia set or the 45 lb Quad are both good places to start.

6. What’s the best way to store fixed dumbbells?

We make several racks for it. The Hellhound is a three-tier rack with flat trays, ideal for hex dumbbells. Round dumbbells get cradle trays that stop them rolling — in 10- or 20-dumbbell versions. And if you have an R8 rack, you can add storage shelves and keep your dumbbells right on the rack.

7. What’s the best way to store adjustable dumbbells?

For the Quad we offer a rolling storage stand. It keeps the dumbbells safe and out of the way, makes them easier to handle mid-workout, and keeps them within reach.

8. Can I train effectively with dumbbells alone?

For upper body, dumbbells are essential: free movement, balanced left-to-right strength, and work for the small muscles as well as the big ones. Pair them with a weight bench like the B6 Decline and you can bench, press, and row properly. Once you’re past the beginner stage, add a barbell — it lets you load real weight for squats and deadlifts.

9. How do I take care of my dumbbells?

Wipe them down: After training, wipe off sweat and dirt with a damp cloth to keep rust and odor away.

Check the collars: On adjustable dumbbells, make sure the collars are tight before every session.

Rubberized dumbbells: May smell of rubber when new. Airing them out for the first few weeks helps.

10. Round or hex — what’s the difference?

Hex dumbbells don’t roll, which matters on uneven floors, and they double as handles for push-ups.

Round dumbbells are more compact and slimmer, which you appreciate at heavy weights — less bulk, easier to handle. Rolling can even work for you: on one-arm rows, roll the dumbbell under a bench like the B4 to switch sides.

11. Why kettlebells instead of dumbbells?

Kettlebells do things dumbbells can’t. The offset handle moves the center of mass away from your hand, which is what makes swings, cleans, and other full-body movements work. You build coordination, stability, and explosive power along with strength.
