1. What is a power rack?
A power rack is a four-post steel frame for safe barbell training.
Adjustable J-hooks and spotter arms catch the bar if you fail a rep, so you can train hard without a spotter.
Every ATLETICA power rack comes with a pull-up bar, and you can add to it over time — a lat pulldown and low row, a Smith machine, and more.
That’s why the power rack is the centerpiece of a garage gym or a commercial one.
2. What’s the difference between the R8, R7, R7 Squat, and R5 racks?
The series differ in stability, steel thickness, height, and how far you can build them out:
R8: Our flagship. 3"x3" uprights, 11-gauge steel, fully modular, with the most attachment options of any series.
The R8 Bradley system adds height-adjustable cable pulleys. Height is 89" to 91" depending on the model.
R7: 2.75"x2.75" uprights, 14-gauge steel.
Two heights (79" and 87") and a solid base for all-around training.
R7 Squat Racks: Same 2.75"x2.75" uprights and 14-gauge steel, in a two-post layout.
Also in two heights, so they fit most rooms.
R5: The entry point. 2"x2" uprights, 14-gauge steel.
Rated to 1,500 lb — a compact way to start rack training.
3. Are R8 and R7 attachments interchangeable?
No. Attachments only fit within their own series.
The R7 and R8 use different upright sizes and hole spacing, so their parts don’t mix.
4. Can I add to a power rack later?
Yes. Every ATLETICA power rack can be built out over time — how far depends on the series.
The R8 goes furthest: extra uprights, crossbars, and a long list of attachments.
The R7 takes jammer arms, a Smith machine, a lat pulldown, and additional structural modules.
The R5 is more limited but still takes jammer arms and a landmine.
5. How do spotter arms work, and are they safe?
Spotter arms hook onto the uprights at the height you choose.
Set them just below your lowest point in the lift — out of the way of the movement, but there to catch the bar if you fail.
Set correctly, they make training alone safe — which is the whole point in a garage gym.
6. What does a Smith machine give me?
A Smith machine runs the bar on fixed rails, so the movement is guided and controlled.
That makes it good for beginners and for isolating a muscle without worrying about balance.
It’s also easy to load with weight plates.
7. Is a lat pulldown and low row only for pulldowns and rows?
No — it does a lot more.
Curls, triceps extensions, face pulls, lateral raises, and plenty of other cable exercises.
With the right handles and accessories, it covers a full workout.
8. Do I need gym flooring under the rack?
Our racks have plastic feet at every contact point, so they won’t scratch the floor.
We still recommend impact- and sound-absorbing gym flooring. It cuts noise — important if you have neighbors — and protects the floor from dropped plates and bars.
9. How much space does a power rack need?
It depends on the model — height, width, and depth all vary.
Check your ceiling height and the floor area you can give it before you buy.
10. Who is a power rack for?
Anyone who wants to train with free weights safely — beginners, experienced lifters, and pros.
Because you can build it out, it grows with your goals.
